BUG IN
OR BUG OUT?
The book

01 / BUG IN

Make home work
when services don’t.

A useful starting question: what would change in your home if the taps, sockets or heating stopped working?

01

Take stock before you shop.

Walk through an ordinary day. Drinking, meals, washing, toilets, lighting, heating and communication all depend on something. Identify the gaps that would affect your household first.

02

Make supplies fit your household.

Choose familiar food and useful equipment. Think about children, animals, accessibility and any essential medical needs. Write down what you already have before deciding what to add.

03

Keep the useful things findable.

Decide where the torch, radio, charging equipment and written contacts belong. A sensible reserve is more helpful when everybody knows where to find it.

04

Try the plan on an ordinary evening.

Could you find a light in the dark? Make a meal without your usual appliances? Contact somebody if the internet failed? A short discussion or safe rehearsal can expose a missing detail.

And if home stops being safe?

Your arrangements for staying should include a plan for leaving.
